I do think that changes in the way people get their ‘news’ through the internet and social media, as well as the more partisan and fact averse cable news channels has fueled the divide. Stirner denounced authoritarian communism of his time, but a kind that respected individuals and lent them full expression of themselves is viewed to be compatible with his ideas. I find it disturbing that Discover edits their web commentary on articles for one. This may, in fact, be the missing explanatory element.
